Outdoor Activities

The Youth Service provides a range of outdoor opportunities for young people.
There are activities such as climbing, canoeing, mountain biking, rafting, hiking and much more. We can also support your expedition training for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

You can also do the Basic Expedition Leaders Awards for new leaders and there are a series of Young People Leader Training Weekends for young people who are interested in becoming Outdoor Activity Workers.

We now have available an interactive on-line GM cycle map. This is a fantastic facility for all to use, to help you find new routes to cycle to suit your needs throughout the whole of Greater Manchester.

If you are interested in any of the above activities then contact us either on 0161 253 6401 or by email at YouthService@bury.gov.uk.
There is a well equipped Outdoor Resource Unit with a stock of outdoor equipment which is available for loan to registered organisations.
We ensure that all outdoor activities are run in accordance with Bury Council Policy and Procedure and ensure the Activities Adventure Licence is maintained.
