What’s on for young people at the Elton Centre?

Mountain biking course

The Centre will be running a mountain biking course from Monday 23rd August - Friday 27th August.  Again this is a free activity but places are limited so please call the centre to book and ask for Simon. This is for ages 12 - 16. It will start at 10am every morning but finishing times will vary.  A packed lunch is needed.

Regular Programme

Monday, 6.30pm - 9pm - Senior Youth Group, for young people in school years 9 - 12. 50p.

Tuesday, 3.30pm - 5.30pm - Just Boys project, for 12 - 16 year olds. 50p. Attend Just Boys and receive a free pass to one of our evening sessions.

Tuesday, 3.30pm - 5.30pm - Just Girls project for 12 - 16 year olds. 50p. Attend Just Girls and receive a free pass to one of our evening sessions.

Tuesday, 6.30pm - 8.30pm - Inters Youth Group, for young people in school years 6 - 8. 50p

Wednesday 12pm - 2pm, Young Parents Group, in partnership with Daisyfield Children's Centre. The group meets every week at St. Stephen's Church.  for more information contact Adele, the Area Youth Worker, on 0161 253 6843.

Wednesday, 6pm - 8pm, Wicked Wednesday Youth Group. A group for young people with disabilities aged 12 - 19. 50p.

Thursday, 6pm - 8pm, The Bury West Neighbourhood Police Team Youth Group, for ages 8-13. Come and meet the team and join in a range of activities. 50p.

Friday evenings - The Youth Team join with Bury FC to offer football in Whitehead Park Ballzone, from 7pm - 9pm.

Also on Fridays the Youth Team hit the streets to meet with young people and find out what you want in your area. FREE.

Saturday, 10.30pm - 1.30pm - Diggle Lane Allotment Project. Green fingered? Come and help out on the Elton Centre Allotment at Diggle Lane Allotments, Jackson Street, off Melrose Close, Bury. FREE.

Plus special projects, trips and residential weekends, here and at other venues.  Ask you youth worker for details.

Get an Award

You can achieve various awards through Bury Youth Service. For details speak to a member of staff in your local youth centre, or go to get an award section of this website.

The  Elton Centre offers a wide range of activities to meet the needs of all young people aged 11-19. What's more if you don't see something you'd like on our programme, just bring your ideas along to the centre, and you can help design our activity programme and make a real difference in your community. We are always looking for new ideas and welcome your contributions.
